Why in News?
Prime Minister of India will inaugurate the Aadi Mahotsav festival of the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd. (TRIFED) in New Delhi’s Major Dhyan Chand Stadium.
What is “Aadi Mahotsav”?
- Aadi Mahotsav is a national tribal festival and a joint initiative of Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India & Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED).
- The festival showcases traditional art and handicrafts and cultural heritage of the country.
- It is an attempt to familiarise the people with the rich and diverse craft, culture of the tribal communities across the country, in one place.
- Theme: “A Celebration of the Spirit of Tribal Crafts, Culture and Commerce”

Why in News?
Recently, the Prime Minister of India inaugurated the 14th edition of Aero India 2023 in Bengaluru.
Aero India 2023:
- Aero India 2023 is an important global aviation trade fair that allows India’s aviation-defense industry to exhibit its products, technologies, and solutions to national decision-makers.
- The fair is held every two years, and this year it is being organized by the defense PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), which is based in Bengaluru.
- The theme for this year’s event is “The runway to a billion opportunities.”
- In addition to major entrepreneurs and investors in the defense and aerospace sectors, the fair will feature significant defense think tanks and organizations from around the world.

Why in News?
Recently, the Prime Minister of India has shared aerial coverage of Ground and Air displays captured from an indigenously developed Medium Altitude Long Endurance TAPAS UAV during rehearsal from a height of 12000 feet.
TAPAS UAV – Features and Development:
- TAPAS UAV stands for Tactical Airborne Platform for Aerial Surveillance-Beyond Horizon 201.
- Previously known as Rustom-II, it is named after Rustom Damania, a former professor at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.
- The Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) in Bengaluru is responsible for designing and developing the UAV, with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and Bharat Electronics Limited as production partners.
- TAPAS UAV is specifically designed for surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) roles and is equipped with advanced payloads, including the capability for auto-landing.
- The UAV is designed to capture high-quality, real-time images and signal intelligence from distant locations.
- It is a technologically advanced UAV that matches the capabilities of other contemporary UAVs while being cost-effective.
