The Union Agriculture Minister had approved the formation of an Advisory Group for streamlining the development of the Bamboo sector.
National Bamboo Mission
Nodal: Department of Agriculture & Cooperation (DAC) under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare
- It is a centrally Sponsored scheme, to harness the potential of the bamboo crop.
The National Bamboo Mission was implemented with the following objectives:
- Enhance the yields with improved and new varieties.
- In the potential areas, increase the coverage area for bamboo.
- Promotion and marketing of bamboo and handicrafts made of bamboo.
- Establish coordination and cooperation among stakeholders for the development of the bamboo sector.
- Promote, develop, and disseminate technologies through a perfect blend of modern scientific knowledge and traditional wisdom.
- Generate employment opportunities for skilled and unskilled labourers, especially unemployed youths.

Why in News?
As part of the Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week, SHE STEM, event was successfully held for the third year in a row.
About:
- SHE STEM is a flagship event of the Nobel Memorial Week and aims to amplify the contribution of women innovators, technologists, scientists, and founders in the fields of STEM and sustainability
- The annual event is organised by the Embassy of Sweden in India in partnership with the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog and the German Centre of Innovation and Research (DWIH New Delhi).
- Its objective is to encourage young female leaders to join and pursue careers in the fields of STEM , as well as to nudge others to interact with women in leadership positions in STEM fields.

Why in News?
Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with “Swar Dharohar Foundation,” inaugurated a three day “Swar Dharohar Festival” under Kalanjali.
What is the Swar Dharohar Festival?
- It is a Music, Art & Literature Festival to showcase the iconic art and culture of India and the rich literary Art & Heritage of Indian States.
- In this program, the upcoming local Artists will perform with Legend Artist on the same platform to showcase their talents.
- The National as well as Local Poets will exhibit their artistry through Kavi Sammelan.
- Under Kalanjali, cultural programmes are being organised at Central Vista every week.
