About Nagaland Statehood Day
- The Nagaland will celebrate its 58th statehood day on Tuesday, but this year the celebrations would be a low-key affair due to the pandemic.
- The Northeast India is the easternmost region of India representing both a geographic and political administrative division of the country.
- It comprises eight states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
- The Nagaland, the 16th state of the Indian Union, was established on 1 December 1963.
- It is bounded by Myanmar on the East, Arunachal Pradesh on the North, Assam on the West, and Manipur on the South.
- It’s home to diverse indigenous tribes, with festivals and markets celebrating the different tribes’ culture.
- Its capital city of Kohima suffered heavy fighting in World War II, commemorated by memorials at the Kohima War Cemetery.
- The Nagaland State Museum exhibits ancient weaponry, a ceremonial drum and other traditional Naga cultural artifacts.
- A Inner Line Permit is required to enter The State Of Nagaland.
- The Nagaland is home to The Hornbill Festival.
- It is the land Of World’s Hottest Chili Pepper called locally known as Naga Mircha, is a chili pepper cultivated in Northeast India and Bangladesh.
- It is one of the hottest known chilli peppers, and is closely related to the Bhut jolokia.
- The Naga Shawl Being Symbolic Of The Social Hierarchy.
- Standing at an altitude of 3841 m, Saramati is the highest peak in the state of Nagaland and occupies a place of pride in the heart of its residents.
- This peak is located on the Nagaland-Myanmar border, the Mt Saramati location shown in the below attached image.
- The major-recognised tribes of Nagaland are Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Khiamniungan, Kuki, Konyak, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi, Yimchungru and Zeliang.
- The Naga languages differ from tribe to tribe, and sometimes even from one village to another.
- They are, however, under the Tibeto-Burma family.
