Devyani Yadav – AIR 11

Is a Weekend Study Enough To Get Into The Civil Service? Devyani Yadav has said yes!

Students study for years in order to pass the UPSC Civil Services test, but this Haryana lady obtained an IAS after only studying two days a week. How? Let us learn about Devyani Yadav, a qualitative researcher who aced the Civil Services Exam.

Devyani Yadav’s Early Life and UPSC CSE Motivation

Devyani is from Haryana’s Mahendragarh. SH Senior Secondary School in Chandigarh was where she finished her education. She graduated from BITS Pilani Goa with a degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. In the year 2014, she completed it.

Devyani is the daughter of a civil servant, therefore that was her source of inspiration. Her father, who was the Divisional Commissioner in Hisar, encouraged his daughter to pursue a career in the civil service.

Devyani Yadav: UPSC Civil Services Journey

Devyani’s path had never been easy. She failed three times before passing the examinations. Devyani attempted the Civil Services test in 2015, 2016, and 2017, but failed each time. She passed the exam in 2018 but was unable to pass the interview process.

In 2019, she was successful and received 222 marks in UPSC CSE. She got 11th rank on her fifth attempt and became an IAS official.

Devyani was studying at the National Academy of Audit and Accounts in Shimla when she received the 11th rank in the UPSC. “I concentrated on high-quality research and prepared using past articles,” she explained. During my first year of preparation, I had taken the coaching.”

“I was inspired by my father to pursue a career in the civil service,” she added. The kind of fulfilment he gets from his profession is exactly what I’m looking for. I’ve kept a close eye on him and admire his work ethic as well as the change he’s brought about through his actions.”

Devyani did not have much time to study after joining the Central Audit Department. She only had weekends to study, but she was not discouraged. She concentrated on the quality of her studies and simply studied without stress. She had set a goal for herself in her fifth attempt to gain higher scores in the optional subject, and she had achieved it.

Devyani concentrated on her writing skills and read the newspaper every day.

After passing the Civil Services exam, she stated that women’s empowerment and education would be her top priorities.
