Structure of the Essay:
Introduction:
You can start the introduction through following ways:
- Start with a general introduction/anecdote/an example/a short story/a poem/ etc. about freedom and its importance.
- Define freedom and give various forms of freedom (legal, political, social, cultural, religious, etc.)
- Give various perspectives about freedom – quote philosophers and great personalities.
- Explain how freedom is a right – Human right, natural right, and fundamental right.
- Also mention how life is without freedom. Examples – Various freedoms denied to women and other vulnerable groups. Along with its impact on their development.
- What is the right thing to do?
- Quote various schools of philosophy and philosophers like Socrates, Aristotle, and others.
Thesis Statement:
- It is a transition statement between introduction and body of the essay.
- In thesis statement, you should write outline of the body with your own arguments. You should prove these arguments in body of the essay with relevant examples.
Body of the essay:
- Mention why Freedom should not be absolute.
- Freedom to Act or Think Vs Correctness of an Act or Thought –
- One can have the freedom to do anything but every act or thought is not correct.
- For example – Defamation can be termed as a misuse of Freedom of Expression, similarly, other freedoms under Article 19 of Indian Constitution can be misused.
